German Shepherd2 viewsShe would be the perfect housedog for a retired person that is seeking companionship and security. Lady is very smart, loving and enjoys being with people. She is energetic, yet not hyper. Lady has been around other dogs and cats without difficulty. When she was younger, she exhibited strong alpha tendencies, but has mellowed over the years.
Seniors are special dogs for special people. It is not uncommon for dogs to live a good life past 12-14 years of age when properly cared for. Just like people are living longer, healthier lives...so are many pets. She has personality plus and likes to keep us on our toes. Lady can still climb fences and open her locked crate. She loves car rides and when her 'Highness" decides to stroll the neighborhood, all we have to do follow behind her in the car, open the door and she jumps right in. "Never a dull moment with Lady around".
How we got Lady... GSRCA received Lady in November of 2003. Her previous owner took her to a shelter because he no longer had time for her. (He apparently had enough time to let her have several litters of puppies and to let her become infected with heartworms, though.) Lady breezed through her heartworm treatment, re-tested negative and is on monthly prevention.
